Zambia striker Fashion Sakala turned down overtures to sign up with Israeli player agent Nir Karin leading to a fall-out with Chipolopolo Avram Grant.
Grant is also on the books of Nir Karin and is believed to have a strong hand in national team selection.
Those close to the team have disclosed that Grant approached Fashion to sign up with Karin but the striker refused which has allegedly not gone well with the coach.
“He was forcing Fashion to work with his agent but the player refused. Now, look at the team; most of the young boys called to the national team without proper game time at club level are all under his agent Karin.
“Zambia national team is slowly becoming a joke even people who didn’t do anything the whole season; they’re called for national team,” an official close to the team said.
The officials are shocked that Grant has left out Fashion whom he has praised as one of the best players of his generation.
“Grant further went on to tell Fashion that he regrets ever praising him that he is the best player for the Zambia National Team and that he (Fashion) does not contribute anything to the team and he will never summon him to the Chipolopolo squad as long as he remains Head Coach,” the official added.
Others believe Grant is the worst coach for Zambia who spends more time with Chipolopolo talking about his history at Chelsea and zero tactics.
