Speaking when Cabinet ministers called on him at Elaweni, Eastern Province this morning, Chief Mpezeni stated that Ncwala was for everyone regardless of one’s origin of birth.

The traditional leader added that Ncwala Ceremony should not be politicised by anyone as it is open to everyone regardless of their political affiliation.

“This Ncwala is for everyone. I don’t want to see a politician coming here with divisive rhetoric. All are welcome. We are one,” noted the Chief.

He further asserted that he was not apologetic about saying that he works with the government of the day.

Chief Mpezeni stated that in his 42 years of reign, he has always worked with the government of the day.

He said opposition leaders should not expect him to be at loggerheads with government when government is the one he runs to whenever his people are faced with problems.

“I will never be apologetic about saying that I work with the government but the day. Ask those who were there during Kaunda, I used to associate with him and I can tell you that I have associated with all the ruling Presidents in Zambia. Ask those who are alive, they will tell you.”

“Never have I ever shown favoritism, government officials are my friends because when things go bad for my people, I don’t run to  opposition leaders, I run to the government,” he said.

The traditional leader further commended government for improving the lives of the people despite the drought that engulfed the nation last year.

He said this year’s rainy season has shown that Zambia’s economy will rebound due to the expected bumper harvest.

“I would like to thank government for taking care of our people through social cash transfer and other programmes. No one has died of hunger in this country which is quite commendable,” said the Ngoni Chief…https://kalemba.news/local/2025/02/21/i-dont-want-divisive-politicians-to-come-to-ncwala-warns-mpezeni/
