I AM A SNAKE, I WILL BE PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA BEFORE 2026 SAYS LUNGU

Over the weekend, former president Edgar Lungu made a curious claim that he could return to power in 2026 or even earlier. His statement, which appeared to be made in a less-than-sober state, suggested that he is “carrying a baby” that might be “delivered” well before the typical nine months. However, Mr Lungu failed to reference any legal framework that would support a change of government before the scheduled general elections in 2026. In fact, Zambian law does not provide for early general elections, making his assertions appear to be baseless and potentially sowing seeds of anarchy.

Given the lack of legal grounds for his claims and the confusing nature of his statements, it seems prudent for Mr Lungu to consider stepping away from political life. Retirement might offer him a dignified exit from the national stage, allowing Zambia to focus on its future without the distraction of unfounded claims. My advice to Mr. Lungu is to retire gracefully, as his recent comments do not contribute constructively to the nation’s political discourse.
