Husband dies in Burning Vehicle, Wife incurs Severe Burns, Child Escapes
A tragic incident has occurred in Lusaka’s Meanwood Chamba Valley, where a man lost his life after his vehicle caught fire.
According to police reports, the incident happened on July 6, 2024, around 8 pm, along the PHI road near Hybrid roundabout. The victim, identified as Nkowani Nhtinkani, aged 48, was driving a Toyota Runx with his wife and their 16-year-old son on board when the vehicle caught fire while in motion.
The son managed to escape the vehicle without injuries, but the victim’s wife sustained severe burns all over her body and is currently receiving treatment at the Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital.
Sadly, efforts to rescue Nkowani Nhtinkani from the burning vehicle proved futile, and he perished inside the completely destroyed motor vehicle. Police officers who rushed to the scene recovered the victim’s remains and deposited them at the University Teaching Hospital morgue, where a postmortem will be conducted.
Investigations to establish the actual cause of the fire have been initiated by the authorities.
