HICHILEMA OFFERS TO HELP MWANAWASA”S CHILDREN
President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged to help tye Chikdren of the late Mwanawasa.
Mwanawasa served as third republican president and died on the 19th August 2008 during his second term of office.
His wife Maureen Kakubo Mwanawasa died on 13th August 2024 and will be buried tomorrow in Lusaka.
President Hichilema who visited the funeral house today in Rome Park says he has assured the family that he will take care of the Children.
He said it was sad that some of the children were still young and have lost both parents.
“We encouraged the family to remain united and seek comfort and strength in their faith during this difficult time,” President Hichilema said. “We assured them that we will do everything possible to assist the children, some of whom are very young and have sadly lost both parents.”
President Hichilema has declared 19th August 2024 as day of National mouning.
