HELPER REGRETS THE GESTURE
The U.S.-based well-wisher who paid the K4,000 fine for 21-year-old Mercy Mwakesa, sparing her from a six-month prison sentence, has expressed regret following her recent social media posts.
Mercy, who was convicted by the Mufulira Magistrate Court for producing and sharing pornographic content online between May 1 and May 14, 2024, has been sharing videos of herself rapping to lyrics that critics say do not reflect a repentant attitude.
The well-wisher, who spoke to Mafken News, expressed disappointment after seeing a video of Mercy circulating on Facebook, which was sent to him by his daughter.
He stated that he regrets paying the fine, adding that Mercy might have had a chance to change had she served her sentence in prison.
He revealed that attempts to reach Mercy’s parents have reportedly been unsuccessful.
