GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES URBAN PRICE SHOCK EMERGENCY CASH TRANSFER
Government through the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has launched the Urban Price Shock Emergency Cash Transfer to cushion the economic challenges faced by vulnerable communities.
Beneficiaries will receive a top up of K200 per month for a period of six months in addition to their regular Social Cash Transfer (SCT) amount.
Speaking during the launch in Kabwe District, Community Development and Social Services Minister Ms. Doreen Mwamba noted that Government is aware of the economic hardships in the country driven by external factors, hence the intervention.
“The surge in prices for essential goods has left many of our citizens grappling with financial strain, making it imperative for Government to take decisive action. This launch demonstrates Government’s firm commitment towards uplifting the welfare of our communities,” Ms Mwamba said.
And speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries Mr. Benson Pensulo thanked Government for the intervention, stressing that it will go a long way in purchasing essential household items.
Meanwhile, the Minister has urges members of the public to observe public health measures aimed at combating the spread of the cholera pandemic.
