GOVERNMENT AWAITING REPORT FROM TECHNICAL OPERATIONS TEAM WORKING ON RETRIEVAL AT SENSELI MINE ON THE WAY FORWARD – PROVINCIAL MINISTER
He wrote…..
Beloved Citizens;
This afternoon, in the company of our Rescue Operation Team, Zambia National Service (ZNS) Konkola Copper Mine (KCM) and other stakeholders we conducted a tour of Sensele Mine both outside and inside of the open pit in Chingola.
The Sensele Mine operations team has continued to experience challenges due to the heavy rains which is hampering the rescue operation to retrieve our people.This is further delaying the progress previously made towards retrieving our miners.
Following the conducted tour this afternoon, Government will wait for the report from the technical operations team on the way forward.The rescue operation team will continue working cautiously trying to retrieve our people who are still trapped.We are also mindful not to put other people at risk because of the loose grounds due to the heavy rains.
The report will be availed to the Government in the next few days on the way forward.
As government we have also decided to beef up security around the Sensele Open Pit.The move is aimed at safe guarding the lives of those who are working at the mine accident site as well as those trying to continue mining.
Government will meet all the family members after receiving the report from the technical team on the way forward.
As Government we are still committed to ensure that all those still remained trapped are retrieved in whatever state they may be in.
Hon Elisha Matambo
Copperbelt Province Minister
