FRA SETS MAIZE BUYING PRICE AT K330 PER 50KG BAG

By Omenty Kabombeka

The Food Reserve Agency (FRA), will be buying a 50-kilogram bag of maize at K330, which equates to K6,600 per metric tonne.

Mwansa Chamatete, the Executive Director of FRA, has confirmed that the agency has begun purchasing grain from all satellite depots nationwide.

In addition to this, the number of satellite depots for maize procurement has been expanded in regions that have not been impacted by drought.

Speaking to Byta FM Zambia News, Chamatete revealed that FRA is committed to providing immediate cash payments to farmers at the point of sale.

This will be facilitated through established financial channels, including banks and mobile money platforms.

The strategic move by FRA is designed to ensure a robust response to drought conditions and to bolster the National strategic food reserves, as directed by the government.
