FORMER LUSAKA MINISTER BOWMAN LUSAMBO CONDEMNS MALICIOUS ONLINE ATTACKS ON CHIPO MWANAWASA

FORMER LUSAKA MINISTER BOWMAN LUSAMBO CONDEMNS MALICIOUS ONLINE ATTACKS ON CHIPO MWANAWASA

In a strongly worded statement, former Lusaka Minister Hon. Bowman C. Lusambo expressed concern over what he described as malicious and personal online attacks directed at Ms. Chipo Mwanawasa by anonymous bloggers. Lusambo condemned the attacks, noting that they have unfairly involved President Hakainde Hichilema by connecting Ms. Mwanawasa’s professional relationship with the president to unfounded rumors.

Lusambo affirmed that Chipo Mwanawasa is part of his family, stating that her late father, Levy Patrick Mwanawasa, was a Lamba from Masaiti District. He emphasized that the Lamba community stands united, and any attack on Chipo is perceived as an attack on all of them.

“While Chipo is an adult capable of making her own decisions, including personal matters, the malicious discussions about her personal life and the involvement of President Hichilema in such toxic conversations is a new low,” Lusambo said, urging for respect toward the presidency.

He further praised President Hichilema as a family man and noted that, despite occasional differences on governance issues, he and others will continue to defend the integrity of the office. Lusambo reiterated that Ms. Mwanawasa was appointed to her role at State House based on merit and serves as a role model for young professional women in Zambia.

The former minister called for an end to the false rumors and urged Zambians to embrace the spirit of Ubuntu in their interactions. He also requested that the Mwanawasa family be given the time and privacy they need to mourn the recent passing of Chipo’s mother, former First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa.

PERSONAL ATTACKS ON MS. CHIPO MWANAWASA SHOULD CEASE – BOWMAN LUSAMBO

We have watched with dismay the incessant attacks on the persona of Ms. Chipo Mwanawasa by several faceless online bloggers. The malicious attacks are personal in nature and by extension hinge on Chipo’s professional relationship with President Hakainde Hichilema.

We wish to place it on record that Chipo is part of our family, she is our young sister. Her Dad, Levy Patrick Mwanawasa was our Father, a Lamba who hailed from Masaiti District and we feel compelled to defend and protect our young sister especially when her personal and professional standing is brought into disrepute. We Lambas believe that when you attack one, you attack all of us.

As much as Chipo is an adult and reserves her right to make decisions including when to start a family, we feel discussing her personal affairs maliciously and bringing President Hichilema in the toxic discussions is a new low for the country. We should always respect the presidency and entangling the highest office in the land in such petty issues is despicable and highly unfortunate.

President Hichilema is a family man who has managed his family issues in an exemplary fashion and dragging his name and that of his family into this issue is complete nonsense.

We sometimes differ with President Hichilema purely on principle especially on his governance style but we will always protect the office he occupies from ridicule, disdain and disrepute.

Chipo was hired to work at State House purely on merit due to her professional skills and competencies and today she serves as a good role model for young professional women and she should be encouraged and supported.
We therefore urge all those with appetite to spread malicious falsehood to cease forthwith.

Over and above, as Zambians, let us summon the spirit of Ubuntu to guide us as we interact with one another. Chipo lost a woman she loved, her Mother, barely a month ago and launching this obnoxious attack on her is ill timed.

Please, allow Chipo and the broader Mwanawasa family extended time of tranquility and privacy to sufficiently mourn the passing of Madam Maureen Mwanawasa.
