FACEBOOK LOVER NABBED FOR STEALING FROM ‘GIRLFRIENDS’

Police in Malawi have arrested a 24-year-old man for stealing money and cellphones from his girlfriends after meeting them on Facebook.

According to police findings, Junior M’bwana, who bears the username of Richard Chesani on Facebook, had allegedly been proposing to women on the social media platform.

“When relationship starts, the suspect would request to meet the victim in Mangochi and instantly take her to a salon to change her hair. In the process, he would borrow her phone and cash, then pretend that his phone had run out of battery. He would then vanish without paying the salon costs,” Malawi’s Times 360 Malawi reports.

Last Saturday, M’bwana tricked a woman from Nsanje and went away with a cellphone worth K250,000 (about Zambian K3,980) through the same process, which led to his arrest when the woman reported to police.

Meanwhile, the suspect is also wanted by Lilongwe and other police formations for committing similar offenses.
