DRUNKEN HUBBY ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT IN KALULUSHI
POLICE in Kalulushi have arrested a 66 year old man of Kameme-A area for assault.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba says the suspect, Smart Simfukwe, assaulted his wife Dyness Simfukwe using a matchet.
In an interview with ZANIS, Mr Mweemba stated that during the incident which occurred on October 26, 2024 at around 21:00 hours, Simfukwe unlawfully wounded his wife using a matchet causing multiple bodily injuries.
Facts of the matter are that on October 26, 2024 at 08:00 hrs the victim Dynes Simfukwe had gone farming within Kameme A area and arrived back home at 19:00 hrs and found that the house was locked.
Afterwards, she went to look for her husband who was drinking beer and upon reaching where he was drinking she asked for the keys but he refused to hand over the keys.
Later in frustration the wife returned home and consequently retired in the outdoor Kitchen.
However, at about 21:00 lhrs when her husband reported back home, finding his wife sleeping in the outdoor kitchen unsettled him.
Upon asking her why she was sleeping outside, she reminded him of his refusal to give her the keys, hence her decision to sleep in the said kitchen.
This infuriated her husband further who immediately opened the house and rushed in and came out with a matchet which he wielded on her thereby causing multiple body injuries.
“The following day at around 05:00 hrs after realising that he had severely injured her, he went and reported himself to the community crime prevention unit who rushed to the scene and found the victim lying on the ground bleeding,” he added.
He said the crime prevention then called the victim’s daughter Dynes Solochi informing her about the incident.
Dyness later rushed her mother to Kalulushi General Hospital after which the matter was reported at Kalulushi police station.
Upon receiving the report, police rushed to Kalulushi General hospital and confirmed the report.
The victim is currently admitted and receiving treatment at the facility while the suspect is in police custody pending court appearance.
