DORA SILIYA ENDORSES UPND CANDIDATE SEVERIAN LUNGU IN PETAUKE CENTRAL BY-ELECTIONS

Former Petauke Central Member of Parliament, Dr. Dora Siliya, has officially endorsed Severian Lungu, the UPND candidate, in the upcoming Petauke Central by-elections. Dr. Siliya, a former cabinet minister under the Patriotic Front (PF), called on the people of Petauke to vote for Lungu, emphasizing that his connection with the ruling government would bring much-needed development to the area.

Speaking during an interview on Pasme Radio, Dr. Siliya explained that Lungu, who is contesting on the UPND ticket, is the right choice for Petauke if they desire progress. She underscored the importance of electing a representative who works closely with the government, as it increases the likelihood of development reaching the community.

Dr. Siliya, who was once supported by Lungu in her 2021 campaigns, highlighted his qualities as a humble, respectful, and grounded individual. She assured the people of Petauke that Lungu’s election would not only alleviate hunger but also ensure sustainable development, stating, “People won’t eat the name of the party; they need food and opportunities for businesses to thrive.”

She further stressed that voting for Lungu would not only serve the immediate needs of the people but also ensure their voice is heard in Parliament. Dr. Siliya appealed to the voters to make a wise choice, saying, “If you vote for Severian, trust me, you won’t lack.”

The Petauke Central seat became vacant following the failure of the former lawmaker, Emmanuel Jay Banda, to attend Parliament after being given a seven-day ultimatum by Speaker Nelly Mutti. The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set the by-election for February 6, 2025.
