Deputy Speaker Moyo’s Endorsement of Hichilema: A Shameless Betrayal of Democracy and Proof of a Captured Parliament

By Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

Zambians, open your eyes! The recent endorsement of President Hakainde Hichilema by Deputy Speaker Moyo is not just an act of political allegiance—it is a clear and undeniable sign that Parliament has been hijacked to serve UPND’s authoritarian agenda.

The Deputy Speaker is supposed to be an impartial guardian of democracy, ensuring that Parliament remains a fair and balanced institution where all voices are heard. Instead, what we see is a disgraceful display of bias and political servitude, with those in positions of power compromising their integrity just to please Hichilema.

How can this be allowed to happen? How can Deputy Speaker Moyo, who is duty-bound to uphold the principles of democracy, shamelessly align with the ruling party and still be expected to preside over Parliament fairly?

A Parliament Hijacked by UPND

This disturbing endorsement is just the latest confirmation of the increasing political bias within Parliament—an institution that has now been reduced to a puppet show where only UPND’s voice matters.

Opposition MPs are constantly harassed, suspended, and gagged whenever they attempt to challenge the government.

Deputy Speaker Moyo and other presiding officers are no longer neutral arbiters but loyal enforcers of Hichilema’s oppressive rule.

Parliament, instead of holding the executive accountable, has been turned into a rubber-stamp body, blindly approving government policies without proper scrutiny.

This is not democracy. This is a calculated move to silence the opposition, destroy multi-party politics, and create a one-party state in disguise.

Hichilema’s Solicited Endorsements Are a Sign of Desperation, Not Strength

Make no mistake—this endorsement is not organic; it is not genuine support from the people. It is a staged and forced act of loyalty, designed to create the illusion that Hichilema still has influence.

But the reality on the ground is very different:

Hichilema’s leadership has been a catastrophic failure.

The economy is in shambles, with Zambians struggling to afford even the most basic necessities.

Corruption is rampant, and the government is more focused on political witch hunts than solving real problems.

Broken promises and deception have become the defining traits of this administration.

These are the reasons why Hichilema has lost the trust of the people. He knows this, and that is why he is now resorting to manipulating public officials like Deputy Speaker Moyo into endorsing him, hoping that it will fool the masses.

Zambians Must Resist! The Time to Speak Out is NOW!

Deputy Speaker Moyo’s endorsement is not a sign of confidence—it is a sign of FEAR. Hichilema and his UPND know they are losing ground. The tide is turning against them, and they are panicking.

But Zambians are not blind. We see the lies, the deception, and the desperate attempts to cling to power. We see:

How the government is using state institutions to manipulate democracy.

How independent voices are being crushed while loyalists are rewarded.

How Deputy Speaker Moyo’s endorsement is just another piece in the grand scheme to keep Hichilema in office, despite his massive failures.

But no amount of political trickery will change the truth—Hichilema is a failed project.

2026: The People Will Decide

Let Hichilema enjoy his fake endorsements while he can, because in 2026, it is the Zambian people who will have the final say.

And when that moment comes, no amount of manipulation, no staged endorsements, and no abuse of power will be able to stop the will of the people.

Zambia is not for sale. Democracy is not for sale. And in 2026, the people will reclaim their country from the hands of those who think they can rule through deceit and oppression.
