CAF AND COSAFA MOURN DEATH OF SEVEN PLAYERS IN CHAVUMA ACCIDENT

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Council for Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) have mourned the death of seven players who died in a tragic road accident in Chavuma while on their way to a league match.

In separate letters of condolence to FAZ President Andrew Kamanga, CAF President Patrice Motsepe and COSAFA President Artur de Almeida e Silva extended their sympathies to the families and the Zambian football community.

Meanwhile, five of the 12 injured have been evacuated to Lusaka for specialized treatment. The accident, which occurred on Saturday, claimed seven lives, with 12 others sustaining critical injuries.

Nineteen people were on board the quantum bus belonging to Chavuma Town Council when it overturned between Lukhunyi and Ndondo area en route to Mufumbwe for a Week 8 North Western Province Division One match between Chavuma Town Council and Mufumbwe Marketeers.
