“Bredner Changala Slams Political Hypocrisy: ‘Who Is Funding UPND?'”
Renowned human rights advocate Bredner Changala has criticized Zambia’s political landscape, calling out the Patriotic Front (PF) and the United Party for National Development (UPND) for their lack of transparency and questionable financial dealings. Changala’s remarks come amid growing public concern over the sudden opulence displayed by both parties.
“is the PF is back in style, but this time in red colors. As a party, it is in court to explain its source of donations and motor vehicles. What hypocrisy is this?” Changala stated in a fiery critique of the opposition party. He further questioned the financial dealings of the ruling party, adding, “Who’s financing UPND? This sudden show of opulence and benevolence to the voters is just amazing.”
The PF is currently embroiled in legal battles to account for its sources of funding, including donations and a fleet of vehicles acquired during its tenure in power. Critics argue that the party’s rebranding, including its adoption of red as its signature color, is an attempt to distract from its tarnished reputation. However, Changala insists that a change in color cannot mask the party’s failure to uphold accountability.
Changala’s remarks also target the UPND, whose sudden display of wealth has sparked questions from civic groups and citizens. The ruling party has been accused of using financial incentives to secure voter loyalty, raising concerns about the origin of its funds. “This is a party that promised transparency and integrity, yet its actions suggest otherwise,” Changala said.
While political parties engage in lavish spending, ordinary Zambians continue to grapple with rising living costs, unemployment, and deteriorating public services. Changala’s comments resonate with many citizens who feel abandoned by their leaders.
Changala has urged Zambians to demand greater transparency from their leaders. “This isn’t just about PF or UPND; it’s about ensuring that our political system is not hijacked by greed and hypocrisy. The people deserve to know where the money is coming from and how it’s being spent,” he emphasized.
