A 36-year-old man of Chama district in Muchinga Province has committed suicide after a dispute with his wife.
Esau Banda, a business man is believed to have consumed some insecticide tablets.
It is also believed that Mr Banda, now deceased used to have long standing marital disputes with his wife, which among them was infidelity.
Muchinga Province Commanding officer Paul Achiume said the incident occurred on Thursday,January 11th this year.
He said the incident was reported by a friend to the deceased.
Mr Achiume said the friend allegedly reported that Mr Banda committed suicide after taking four tablets of Quick Force maize treating insecticides.
“Brief facts are that the now deceased person was a businessman at Kalovya Village and was dealing in various kind of businesses and it was learnt that he had some long standing marital disputes with his wife, with infidelity being among others. Yesterday afternoon, he had an argument with his wife which angered him so much to an extent of taking his own life and he took the mentioned tablets,” he said.
He said the victim was rushed to Kalovya Rural Health Centre and then referred to Chama District Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly upon arrival.
“Acting on the report, officers from Chama Police Station rushed to the Hospital with a medical report form, but found that the victim had already died. Further, the body of the deceased was deposited to Chama District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination,” he said.
