Government warns of demolishing illegal structures at State Lodge
ILLEGAL structures that have been constructed on State Lodge land will be demolished soon, reveals Lands and Natural Resources Minister Sylvia Masebo.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday, Masebo said State Lodge is the second State House of the country where the President sometimes works from therefore, the land is regarded as a security territory sitting on a government title under the ministries of Home Affairs and Finance.
“What we have observed from our tour, we have seen new developments there, we have seen some construction that have not even followed laid down planning procedures and we are asking how some of that land was in the first place allocated.”
“So anybody who has constructed a house under ministry of Home Affairs, that title will be cancelled. And we will not allow any further developments around state lodge land,” said Masebo.
“So we will be going round to do a validation to check. If anybody thinks that we are going to continue with the illegalities of the past because somebody has not been talked to or we are quiet and people think we are going to condone illegalities, they have it wrong.”
She further warned land developers who have put up structures which are less than 60 metres away from the Great East Road to demolish their structures before government steps in.
She said such developers must note that they have been developing structures within the road reserve.
