South African opposition leader Julius Malema yesterday disclosed that he was banned from entering Zambia by then President Edgar Lungu simply because the South African opposition president was supporting President Hakainde Hichilema.
Malema who heads the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party in his country happened to be among hundreds of invited guests at Botswana’s Presidential inauguration ceremony where he rubbed shoulders with President Hichilema.
Malema stated that he was happy to see President Hichilema who has not restricted him from entering the country.
He said Africa was anchored on the value and principle of unity, as a result all leaders needed to unite.
“I’m on my way to see H and H President of Zambia. I was banned by Lungu, fighting for H and H because Lungu arrested H and H and said he was obstructing traffic and you cannot arrest an opposition for those things and then Lungu banned me. H and H comes to power and doesn’t uplift my restriction,” shared Malema.
