SADLY, HICHILEMA IS DESPERATE AND CONFUSED, AS ZAMBIA’S PROBLEMS WORSEN

There is no doubt that the country’s economic condition under Mr Hakainde Hichilema’s regime is worse than imagined. People are hungry. People are suffering and miserable. Certainly, the dire economic disorder under this regime is grossly indescribable. Mr Hichilema and the UPND have methodically impoverished Zambians with no tangible solutions to these economic difficulties in sight.

What is even more puzzling, amidst this monumental mess, is that Mr Hichilema is already in campaign mode reproducing his usual desperate and dishonest messages. Even after remarkably failing to fulfill his previous campaign promises, Mr Hichilema has remained in his deceiving mode, and keeps saying and doing things without an ounce of accountability and shame. The grandstanding and reckless abandonment of principles, integrity and credibility has continued.

Perhaps, this explains why Mr Hichilema has made it a point to attend all traditional ceremonies countrywide, big or small, and almost all church gatherings. He is desperate. That is why he is literally in all social gatherings to unapologetically repeat his unfulfilled promises, and make fresh promises yet again. Whilst he is doing this, we notice the same mob of UPND cadres accompanying him and dominating every gathering he attends. The man doesn’t even realise that he is addressing the same people everywhere he goes. We are also seeing more placards than genuine people at these gatherings. And the inscriptions on these placards, of what they consider to be the regime’s successes, are absolutely false and laughable. Everything has gone bonkers and clearly, both Mr Hichilema and his handlers have succeeded in believing their own propaganda. They have become ardent followers and disciples of the very lies they are generating.

But in all this, what Mr Hichilema doesn’t understand is that people want real solutions to this hardship, not his face. People want food. People want electricity. People want affordable fuel. People definitely want an improvement in their living conditions. Its not his presence, his face, and his clowning around at these events that will change this dire situation. Yes, he can attend all social gatherings across the country including amatebeto, ifilanga mulilo nama birthday parties, but what will that do to improve the livelihood of our people? How does his face or presence at these gatherings help to address the high cost of living, high electricity tarrifs, fuel price increase, unstable exchange rate and so on and so forth?

In case, Mr Hichilema is in denial that a second term of office is an overly ambitious plan for him, he should ask his intelligence to conduct a survey on his approval ratings, if they have not done so yet, and he will be very lucky if his rating will go beyond 25 per cent. Truth is, Mr Hichilema has failed and he is going in 2026. No amount of grandstanding, lies and manipulation will save him.
