I AM NOT SPEAKING FOR THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE BECAUSE I AM BUSY WITH GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS – PILATO
By Boston Muvwanga
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts Chama Fumba says he decided to stop speaking for the Zambian people on various matters affecting them because he has concentrated on implementing government programs.
Mr Fumba popularly known as Pilato in the entertainment circles rose to prominence as a respected political and human rights activist and commentator during the PF regime where he repeatedly called out the wrongs of the then government.
He was however appointed Permanent Secretary when the UPND formed government, a feat which many people saw as a reward for his role in kicking out the PF from power to usher in the UPND government.
This is has led to some of his followers and citizens alike to question his loyalty in his activism that had once pitted him against the PF regime resulting in a self-imposed exile for fear of his life at some point in 2018.
But Mr. Fumba says he has not been vocal of late because he has been given the privilege of implementing government programs and not speaking for the Zambian people.
He states that democracy is not only about speaking for the people but also implementing government programs and other roles.
The Permanent Secretary has since urged those with the Privilege of speaking for the Zambian people to continue doing so.
