I DELIBERATELY APPOINTED MASEBO AS LANDS MINISTER TO RESOLVE LAND ISSUES IN CHONGWE – HH
PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has disclosed the deliberate move he made to resolve land issues in Chongwe.
The Head of State said he appointed Lands minister Sylvia Masebo to her current portfolio so that she could start resolving land issues around Chongwe district.
Officiating at the Chakwela Makumbi traditional ceremony of the Soli people in Chongwe on Saturday, President Hichilema stated that there was too much illegal grabbing of land in Lusaka province and the country at large which needed to be sorted out.
“Minister Masebo has our government’s full support in remedying the issues or transgressions or lawlessness that was exhibited around Lusaka and the country at large with regard to illegal grabbing of land, settling in wrong places which are supposed to recharge our water bodies,” said the President.
The Head of State also instructed the minister, who is also the area Member of Parliament for Chongwe to work hand in hand with parents to ensure that no child stays home in that area when government has provided free education.
He further told the people of Chongwe to report any irregularities and illegalities in the way the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is being handled.
“There is no excuse why these children should not be in school. CDF is your money not for the MPs not for the councilor, not for any government official. You can learn skills through CDF, don’t let anyone take that away from you, it’s your money,” noted the State.
