HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDER CALLS ON LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TO TAKE ACTION IN MATTER INVOLVING 3 DISMISSED CONCOURT JUDGES

Human Rights Defender Ngande Mwanajiti is calling on law enforcement agencies to take action in the matter involving three dismissed constitutional court judges.

President Hakainde Hichilema last week dismissed three constitutional court judges namely, Mungeni Mulenga, Annie Sitali and Palan Mulonda following recommendation from the Judicial Complaints Commission-JCC-.

Commenting on this development, Mr Mwananjiti says the report from the JCC that communicated impropriety on the part of the 3 dismissed concourt judges is extremely worrisome because the judiciary is the last defender of justice.

Mr. Mwanajiti says given the fact that no one is above the law, it will be unfair for the matter to die a natural death.

He says justice must be done and only a full trial of the judges can confirm that nobody is indeed above the law as it will give the judiciary an opportunity to cleanse itself and send a message that judge’s offices should not be breeding ground for injustice.
