US publication predicts HH downfall
A UNITED States-based publication, International Policy Digest, has issued a stark critique of President Hakainde Hichilema, claiming the Zambian head of State has lost significant popularity domestically and is increasingly being characterised as authoritarian.
The International Digest Policy is claiming that President Hichilema, who democratically came to power in 2021, is allegedly utilizing state machinery to suppress opposition leaders, drawing parallels to the governance of his predecessor, Zambia’s Sixth President Edgar Lungu.
“When Hakainde Hichilema was elected, there was optimism about his leadership. However, this optimism is waning,” the publication states, pointing to a troubling shift in public sentiment.
“He is more authoritarian than his predecessor, and his administration is stifling dissent.”
