KABIMBA WARNS UPND: “FIX THE ECONOMY OR LOSE 2026 ELECTIONS”
EF leader Wynter Kabimba sounds the alarm, claiming UPND’s economic policies could cost them the next election if not addressed.
Lusaka, Zambia, September 23 – Economic Front (EF) leader Wynter Kabimba has issued a stern warning to the UPND government, stating that they risk losing the 2026 general elections if they fail to attend to the country’s pressing economic problems. In a dramatic twist, Kabimba, who recently joined forces with the UPND, seemed to be both part of the solution and the problem during his appearance on ZNBC’s Sunday Interview last night.
“We joined the alliance, but let’s be real – the economy’s still a mess,” Kabimba declared, likely sending shockwaves through his newfound political partners. “Hunger, high living costs, and skyrocketing fuel prices – these are the real ‘variables’ the UPND should be solving before Zambians say ‘no more’ in 2026!”
Kabimba, ever the political pragmatist, explained that his alliance with the UPND didn’t mean he’d suddenly stopped seeing the storm clouds on the horizon. “I may be in the alliance, but facts don’t change – prices are still high, stomachs are still empty. You can’t eat promises,” he quipped, in a statement that likely made a few in the UPND wish they had chosen a quieter partner.
While Kabimba spoke of his dedication to the noble cause of fighting corruption, he didn’t hold back on calling out what he sees as a reality check for President Hakainde Hichilema. “The President needs to come out and say it – some of the campaign promises were based on information that simply wasn’t true. He didn’t know about the mess he was walking into,” Kabimba said, generously framing the situation as if the President had been blindsided by a team of bureaucratic ninjas hiding the Eurobond debt under the presidential carpet.
Kabimba also painted an image of Hichilema discovering the reality of governing, saying, “He probably thought he could just wave a magic wand and fix the power crisis, but surprise! Turns out, there’s money owed! Shocking, I know.” It’s unclear whether Kabimba was offering advice or just enjoying the poetic irony of a campaign promise unravelling in real time.
Despite his newfound alliance, Kabimba didn’t shy away from airing his disagreements with UPND policies. “Yes, I criticized them before, and guess what? I still do. But this country is bigger than what divides us. It’s bigger than Wynter Kabimba or the President,” he mused, possibly suggesting that some issues are just too big for even the UPND’s famously large campaign promises.
It remains to be seen whether Kabimba’s warnings will serve as a wake-up call or just add to the growing list of headaches for the UPND. But one thing is clear: the 2026 election is already shaping up to be a showdown of promises versus reality, and Kabimba seems determined to play both referee and player.
