Yesterday the country saw the meeting between Zambia Conference Catholic Bishops and the President Mr Hakainde Hichilema at state house .
Every Zambian is very interested to hear the outcome of that meeting because the church especially the Catholic Church is the hope of the Zambian people as they have demonstrated from the past to defend the truth .
Zambia as a country, we are going through alot of challenges one of the biggest challenges the country is facing is the collapsing of the rule of law and Governance system, most of the Zambian people cannot trust any Government institution because it is heavily compromised by the UPND government.
The biggest setback of this country is to compromise the judicial system which is the anchor of everything in the country.
Today we are witnessing the highest court in the Land, the constitutional court failing to protect and defend the constitution.
People do not know If they can get justice through the court of law ,the wheels of democracy and human rights have been suspended, anyone who wants to use their constitutional rights are being arrested and detained ,even some of the people going to the church are being subjected to interrogation, people going to court are being searched at the court premises .
Mr Hakainde Hichilema and UPND Government came into power by promising alot of good things to the Zambian people.
One of the things they promised is the rule of law and respecting the constitution but Mr Hakainde Hichilema is abrogating the constitution with impunity.
Today we have a member of parliament for Petauke Central Hon Jay Jay Banda who was abducted by unknown people ,the Government is protecting the people who abducted him ,in Punishing him he has been incarcerated with a case which happened 9 years ago ,this case went to the court and the verdict was passed the complainant was even compensated and he got the money but because Emmanuel Banda does not belong to them he is being punished.
The hope of the Zambian people is the Church just as the church demonstrated in 1990-1991 when Multi partisim was being introduced the Catholic Church spearheaded by the late Archbishop Elias Mutale lead the delegation to convince the late president Kenneth Kaunda the demands of the people to introduce Multi-partism, thats why yesterday’s meeting is very important for the country and moving foward ,at the moment their is no law which is working in this country.
Zambian people expect yesterday’s meeting as a breakthrough, the challenge we are facing is the conduct of our President, outside he looks humble and honest but inside he’s a different person whatever he speaks and actions on the ground are two totally different things ,he talks about the rule of law .
Today there is arbitrary arrest, police brutality and police breaking into the Bishops office so he pretends like he doesn’t know all these things but who is the Commander and Chief of the Armed forces? it’s Himself all security chiefs report to him, he should not pretend like he doesn’t know what is happening in the country because early in the morning he gets the briefing from the office of the president which is ZISS and all these things are under his command.
Last week on the 7th the Home Affairs Minister who is a lawyer state counsel Hon Jack Mwimbu addressed the Nation about the outcome in the eligibility case in the constitutional court involving Former President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu in that press briefing he was literally telling the zambian people that he knows the outcome of tomorrow’s case so we don’t want you to come to the court and protest hence we saw more than 300 police officers at the court premises ,that is total interference in the court proceedings.
The economical and Hunger situation in the country has reached the highest level, people cannot afford to buy food because there is no economic activity, all economical activities in the country are almost being shut down and the Catholic Church is the most important Christian organization in this country which is at the center of helping the most vulnerable people in society, the church is being found in the most remote areas in this country so when we see the Bishops at state house then the truth will come out there so that’s why yesterday’s meeting was very important for this country .
Our Bishops cannot be intimidated, you cannot cheat them and even if you pretend they will know because these are men who have been covered and protected by the Blood of Jesus .
