Garry Nkombo resists government house for own mansion
Like his boss has resisted to move into the presidential comfort of Nkwazi House, Local Government minister Garry Nkombo also finds solace in staying in his own house rather than a government-owned ministerial apartment.
Given the beautiful scenery and picturesque landscaping that greets one on arrival at Nkombo’s mansion hidden away in the mountainous area Lusaka’s Shimabala area, little wonder that the Mazabuka member of parliament did not want to move even after his ministerial appointment.
Besdes that, having stayed in the same house for the last six years or so, Nkombo has also grown attachment to it and fails to relocate.
But Nkombo is not the only “rebel” resisting government accommodation.
Home Affairs minister Jack Mwiimbu, health minister Sylvia Masebo, finance minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane are all staying in their own houses.
In commenting on the same, some political commentators say having already established minister ministers living in their own houses reduces pressure on them to pilfer state resources to build their own houses.
