…Says Zambias can lose Emmanuel as he has been pushed to severe limits as a human being
Lusaka, Zambia— Socialist Party Zambia President Dr Fred M’membe has denounced the treatment of Petauke Member of Parliament Emmanuel Jay Banda, describing it as inhumane and a violation of legal standards.
Dr. M’membe highlighted the severe mistreatment Banda has faced at the hands of the police, allegedly driven by political enemies within the UPND government.
“Emmanuel has been treated in a barbaric way. I’m not here to judge what Emmanuel has done or has not done. But he has not been treated like a human being, and he has not been treated in accordance with our laws,” Dr. M’membe stated.
He said Emmanuel could have certain individuals within the UPND government who were exploiting the police and the criminal justice system to persecute him.
“He has these enemies, in the UPND government who are using the police and all the systems of our criminal justice to punish him,” Dr. M’membe alleged.
Dr. M’membe expressed grave concern for Banda’s well-being, warning that the mistreatment has brought him close to de@th.
” We can lose Emmanuel. He has been pushed to almost the limit as a human being,” he cautioned, stressing that such treatment is unacceptable, even for those who have committed the most severe crimes.
“Even those who have committed the worst crimes are never treated that way,” Dr. M’membe concluded, calling for an immediate end to the persecution and adherence to legal and human rights standards.
Dr. M’membe’s remarks call attention to alleged abuses within the justice system and urge respect for human rights, regardless of political affiliations or accusations.
