MINISTRY OF SMED, MINES COLLABORATE TO BOOST SMALL SCALE MINING
Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Elias Mubanga said that his ministry is working closely with the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development to strengthen small scale mining in the country. This collaboration aims to support and enhance the mining activities of cooperatives in various parts of the country.
Hon. Mubanga highlighted that his ministry is actively assisting these cooperatives in obtaining artisanal mining licenses. By facilitating the licensing process, the ministry aims to promote a conducive environment for small scale mining operations.
And Minister of Mines Minister Paul Kabuswe, ol announced that his ministry will soon initiate a nationwide mineral mapping exercise. This exercise aims to assess the remaining mineral deposits in the country, providing valuable insights for future mining endeavors.
Both ministers made these statements during a courtesy call on Senior Chief Mukanta in Kawambwa District of Luapula Province. During the meeting, Senior Chief Mukanta expressed his gratitude to the ministers and acknowledged the positive impact of constituency development funds on his chiefdom and the wider country.
The Chief recognized how these funds have transformed the economic landscape and contributed to the overall development of the nation.
