“HIS GUN FIRED”: NURSE AND DNA ANALYST TESTIFY IN SHIKAPWASHA MURDER TRIAL
Shocking details have emerged in the High Court during the trial of Jane Lusengo, who is accused of murdering her husband, retired Lieutenant General Ronnie Shikapwasha.
Testifying before High Court Judge Conceptor Zulu, Sergeant Mutinta Muleya—a nurse at Maina Soko Military Medical Centre—recalled the moments Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha arrived at the emergency department on January 14, 2024.
Sergeant Muleya testified that Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha was brought to the hospital around 17:00 hours, clutching his abdomen with a white towel.
While drawing blood samples, the nurse asked what had happened. The late General disclosed that “his gun had fired.” She noted he was restless, so she did not ask further questions.
Forensic Analyst Innocent Makasa testified that DNA analysis on the white towel matched a single male profile belonging to Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha.
Other samples taken from a white vest, blouse, and carpet contained DNA from multiple people and were reported as inconclusive.
Jane Lusengo remains on trial for murder contrary to Section 200 of the Penal Code.
