KATAKWE WARNS NEW HEALTH MINISTER CHILENGI OVER ALLEGED MINISTRY ‘CARTELS’
Former Health Minister Dr Alex Katakwe has advised newly appointed Health Minister Professor Roma Chilengi to remain vigilant against what he describes as “cartels” within the Ministry of Health.
Dr Katakwe warned that some individuals may go to great lengths to protect what he described as their “selfish interests”, urging the new minister to carefully navigate the ministry and remain focused on serving the public interest.
Dr Katakwe served as Health Minister for approximately two months before the dissolution of the previous Cabinet.
His warning comes as Prof Chilengi takes charge of the ministry and begins his tenure amid expectations for continued reforms and improvements in Zambia’s health sector.
