UPND Kafue West Member of Parliament Obvious Mwaliteta has warned civil servants who openly opposed President Hakainde Hichilema during the August 13 elections that government will not tolerate public officers who frustrate its efforts.
Mwaliteta said civil servants who do not support the President should not remain in government while working against his administration.
He disclosed that his team has started compiling the names of civil servants who celebrated after opposition presidential candidate Brian Mundubile claimed early victory in the 2026 general elections.
“We can’t have civil servants who are going to frustrate the efforts of government. Today I want to tell you, these five years will be difficult for you,” said Mwaliteta.
He said public officers cannot serve two masters at the same time, insisting that those who do not want to serve under President Hichilema should leave his government.
“There is no way you can work for Hakainde’s government when you don’t want Hakainde himself. There’s no way you’re going to be a police officer in Kafue when you are against the government. You can’t serve two masters, you can only serve one master at a go,” he said.
Mwaliteta said the celebrations exposed the political loyalties of some civil servants, particularly in Kafue, when Mundubile claimed to have won the election.
He said government would not allow public officers who are politically opposed to the administration to frustrate its programmes and operations.
