THE Zambia Police Service have launched an investigation into a reckless motorist who defied orders to halt for the Presidential motorcade as it headed to the National Heroes Stadium on September 1, 2026.

The security breach occurred at the busy T-junction of Chilimbulu and Mosi-oa-Tunya Roads during the high-stakes transit.

Police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi confirmed that the driver openly disobeyed lawful orders to give way to the official convoy.

“The Zambia Police Service has taken a keen interest in the matter and investigations have since been instituted,” Mr Chilabi announced.

Despite the motorcade scare, the rest of the historic Presidential Inauguration Ceremony proceeded without a hitch.

No major security or criminal incidents were recorded at the National Heroes Stadium venue.

Traffic operations ran flawlessly across the city with zero reported road traffic accidents.

Operations succeeded due to strategic planning and tight coordination between the Defence and Security Wings.

Traffic flow on key arteries, including Great North Road and Lumumba Road, cleared up and returned to normal by 18:00 hours.

The Zambia Police Service extended its gratitude to the public and cooperative motorists for maintaining order during the massive national event.
