Chester, Felix Phiri and 14 others granted bail in Kalabo riotous behaviour case
Musician Moses Ng’andwe, popularly known as Chester, gospel musician Felix Phiri, comedian Winston Ngosa, alias IDC Light Comedy, and 13 others have been granted bail pending trial in a case involving alleged riotous behaviour.
Mongu, 29 August – The 16 accused persons appeared before Kalabo Resident Magistrate Vincent Moze after spending 24 days in detention following their arrest on August 5, 2026.
They have all pleaded not guilty to the charge of riotous behaviour.
Two of the accused persons are facing additional charges relating to alleged possession of offensive weapons.
The court granted each of the 16 accused persons cash bail of K5,000, with two sureties in their own recognisance.
Lawyer Wisdom Nyirenda told the court that the accused persons had managed to organise sureties and were putting together the necessary resources to meet the bail conditions.
The court has since adjourned the matter to September 6 and 7, 2026, when trial is scheduled to commence.
