SALUBUSA RULES OUT MATERO ELECTION PETITION
TONSE Alliance parliamentary candidate for Matero Constituency, Patrick Mwamba Salubusa, has announced that he will not petition the outcome of the August 13, 2026 general election, saying he has chosen to leave the matter in God’s hands.
Mr Salubusa said he arrived at the decision after attending yesterday’s English Mass at Lilanda Catholic Church, where he reflected on whether to seek justice through the courts or through prayer.
He said his decision was not motivated by fear, bitterness or defeat, but followed prayer, reflection and what he believed was God’s guidance.
“I will not petition,” Mr Salubusa said.
He said although concerns had been raised about the electoral process, he had decided to demonstrate grace and accept that his purpose extended beyond the outcome of a single election.
“Sometimes, we ask God for justice when He is asking us to demonstrate grace,” he said.
Mr Salubusa, who contested on the Resolute Party as a special purpose vehicle, said he had campaigned with conviction and served the people who had placed their confidence in him, adding that he had no regrets about the political journey.
“I choose peace,” he said.
He said his decision was also influenced by his belief that God’s plans for his life and Matero Constituency were greater than his political ambitions.
“I choose to leave this issue in God’s hands,” Mr Salubusa said.
Mr Salubusa thanked everyone who voted for, supported and encouraged him throughout the campaign, saying their confidence would remain memorable.
“May God bless Matero. May God bless Zambia,” he said.
