ELECTION RESULTS TO BE ANNOUNCED AFTER FOUR DAYS
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) announced that the results of the August 13, 2026 general elections will be released by August 17, 2026.
Acting director Winner Mwanamoonga stated that this timeline is an administrative decision rather than a legal requirement.
The distribution of ballot papers to districts is expected to be completed today.
ECZ chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis urged stakeholders to combat misinformation during the election period, emphasizing its potential to undermine public trust and create anxiety.
She highlighted the importance of sharing accurate information to maintain confidence in the electoral process, and called for cooperation and dialogue among stakeholders to ensure peaceful elections grounded in trust.
