IRAN’S PRESIDENT CALLS THE NEW LEADER EXTRAORDINARY. THE REGIME IS NOT SO SURE.
President Pezeshkian says the things some people say about the treatment of the Leader of the Revolution have nothing to do with his personality . He insists the current Supreme Leader is extraordinary . He also says the Leader is always present in decision-making and is not someone who just lets others act independently .
But this defense is telling. The president is trying to stop rumors that the new leader is isolated, unwell, or not in control. Pezeshkian admits people are talking. He says they are wrong. He says the leader is involved and making decisions .
This comes after Pezeshkian said communication with the Leader has become “very difficult” . The contradiction is glaring. The president says the Leader is extraordinary, but he also says they can’t talk.
Iran’s leadership is fractured. The war is raging. The strait is closed. The people are suffering. And the leader is hiding.
