UPND MEMBER REPORTS LUANGENI INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE, RONALD JERE FOR ALLEGED ELECTORAL MALPRACTICE.
A UPND Member in Luangeni Constituency, Simon Banda wrote to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) reporting the Luangeni Independent Aspiring Candidate, Ronald Jere for electoral malpractice.
In the same complaint letter, Banda accused Jere of engaging in electoral malpractice during the latter’s campaign meetings at Katambo and Manda Schools on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.
Banda alleges that Jere distributed plain Chitenge materials to women voters, a practice he claims violates the electoral code of conduct.
Meanwhile, Ronald Jere confirmed receipt of the complaint etter and also a notice of hearing from the ECZ notifying him of the need to appear before the District Conflict Management Committee.
Jere has however rubished the allegations describing them as ‘pettiness’ and a disturbance on his team’s campaign trail.
“This is just desperation on the part of our friends in the UPND. It’s really unnecessary and a waste of time, as these allegations are baseless”, remarked Jere.
