LONGWE LODGES A COMPLAINT WITH THE JUDICIAL COMPLAINT COMMISSION

Charles Longwe, a member of the United Party for National Development (UPND), has lodged a complaint with the Judicial Complaints Commission (JCC) against seven Constitutional Court judges, alleging incompetence in their decision that deemed President Hakainde Hichilema eligible for the upcoming general election.

This action follows the court’s June 19, 2026, ruling that rejected Longwe’s challenge regarding the UPND’s nomination process, which he argued was not in line with constitutional and electoral standards. Longwe specifically targets Deputy President Arnold Shilimi and Justices Mathew Chisunka, Mudford Mwandenga, Martin Musaluke, Maria Kawimbe, Judy Mulongoti, and Gertrude Imbwae for misinterpreting constitutional and electoral laws related to nomination procedures and party sponsorship.

He has requested an investigation into their conduct under Articles 143 and 144 of the Constitution.
