Former President Jacob Zuma has sparked controversy after being spotted in India alongside Ajay Gupta who was officially declared a fugitive by South African prosecutors.
Visiting the Sidipeeth Shri Dakshin Kali Temple in Haridwar, Zuma openly defended his relationship with Gupta and expressed absolute certainty about a political comeback.
“I came to visit a brother and a friend of mine who lived in South Africa for a long time. Unfortunately, some people in South Africa were unhappy with what they were doing in the country, which included work that I was also involved in,” Zuma said, adding that:
“I feel I am going to win the elections because people of God, they’ve been with me… He is giving me the strength to once again lead our people to where they are supposed to be.”
The reunion has triggered intense backlash back home, with the critics accusing Zuma of “spitting in the face of our law enforcement agencies.”
What do you make of this public reunion? Let’s discuss in the comments.
