🚨 ZIMBABWE’S LITHIUM BOOM SURGES PAST US$3.4 BILLION — COULD SOUTH AFRICA SOON NEED ITS NORTHERN NEIGHBOUR MORE THAN EVER? 🇿🇼🇿🇦

Zimbabwe’s lithium industry has reportedly attracted more than US$3.4 billion (over R60 billion) in investment, strengthening the country’s position as one of Africa’s most important suppliers of battery minerals.

Officials say around US$2 billion has already been invested, while a further US$1.45 billion is earmarked for new value-addition and processing projects. The investments come despite a global decline in lithium prices, highlighting continued confidence in Zimbabwe’s mining sector.

With electric vehicle demand expected to grow worldwide, lithium has become one of the most strategic minerals on the planet. Some analysts believe Zimbabwe’s growing influence in the battery supply chain could make it an increasingly important economic partner for countries across the region, including South Africa.

💬 If Zimbabwe continues attracting billions into lithium mining and processing, could South Africa eventually need Zimbabwe more than ever before, or will South Africa remain the region’s economic powerhouse? 🇿🇦🇿🇼🔥
