NRPUP Kabwe Mayoral aspirant Wilson Pindamali, 10 others released on bond!
POLICE has released Kabwe NRPUP mayoral aspiring candidate Wilson Pindamali and ten other suspects on police bond pending court appearance.
The 11 were arrested and detained in connection with political violence experienced in Kabwe Central Constituency on Sunday, 7 June 2026 at Katondo Primary School.
Central Province Police Commanding Officer Lemekani Chirwa confirmed the releas to The Mast saying the suspects had been warned and cautioned for the subject offences.
“The 11 suspects, including NRPUP mayoral aspiring candidate Mr Wilson Pindamali,have been released on police bond while investigations continue,” the Chirwa stated.
“They will appear in court soon. Police bond does not mean the matter is closed. It means they are free to attend to their affairs but must be available when called by investigators or the court,” he added.
Police said investigations into the Katondo Primary School incident were still ongoing and more suspects could be apprehended.
“We are still gathering evidence and statements from victims and witnesses. Anyone else linked to the violence will be brought to book, regardless of political party or position,” the Commissioner said.
The violence on Sunday disrupted an NRPUP rally and left several party members and supporters injured. Police earlier identified a UPND cadre, James Thole, as the key suspect and appealed to the public for information on his whereabouts.
Pindamali confirmed his release with reporter, Thandizo Banda.
Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi reiterated that the service remains impartial:
“Police act on evidence and complaints received. No one is above the law. We will continue to enforce the law fairly as we approach the August 13 General Election,” Chilabi said.
