LUSAKA City Council Police, State Police, Public Health and Legal Departments and the Ministry of Health have embarked on a five-day legal enforcement joint operation to be conducted in all seven constituencies of the city.

The operation is running from the 13th April 2023 to 18th April, 2023, and aims to assess levels of compliance to public health guidelines and ensure that people are trading within the laws and regulations.

Lusaka City Council Public Relations Office Bupe Chumbwe says a number of people have been found abrogating the law by operating without trading licenses.

He says the local authority closed up a number of shops which where found operating without trading licenses while others where operating under poor sanitary conditions, including selling expired alcohol.

He says all perpetrators have since been issued with warning notices for violating various laws such as the public health act, food safety act and liquor licensing act.

Chumbwe says offenders will then be prosecuted at the Lusaka City Council fast track court.
