MPEZENI DIES, CHIEF NZAMANE HAS CONFIRMED

Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni People has died.

Senior Chief Nzamane has confirmed to Diamond News the death of the Ngoni Leader.



David Njengembaso Jere was enthroned at the age 31 on, 19th June 1982, following the death of his father Gabriel Pontino Jere in 1982.



He has reigned the ngoni nation for 44 years.

Mpezeni has been an advocate for peace and unity and has been honored by President Hakainde Hichilema for his peace advocacy.

President Hichilema writes:

We have received with deep sadness the passing of His Majesty Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV of the Ngoni people.



His Majesty was a revered custodian of Ngoni culture and heritage, and a unifying symbol of Zambia’s rich cultural diversity. His distinguished service and leadership will remain an enduring part of our national heritage.



As we mourn this great loss, the nation stands united with the Ngoni Royal Establishment, the bereaved family, and the entire Ngoni people.



May His Majesty Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV rest in eternal peace.
