NKOMBO IS FAILING TO UNDERSTAND HIS DIMINISHED STANDING IN THE UPND
Gary Nkombo declared that he and President Hakainde Hichilema will both be re-elected.
However, Nkombo’s pronouncements and his current political predicament raise pertinent questions about his understanding of the current political climate, his standing within the United Party for National Development (UPND), and the efficacy of his electoral strategy.
He said that after winning the elections, he would then approach the President so that they work together.
This projection, however, appears to be at odds with recent developments where his nomination has been petitioned, specifically on the grounds of standing as an independent candidate without formally resigning from the UPND.
This legal challenge suggests that his opponents within the party are actively seeking to impede his electoral bid to make him stay at the dumpsite they believe he belongs.
Surely, Nkombo is out of sync with the party’s current direction as he does not know that he is no longer wanted in the UPND.
There is a disconnect between his self-perception and the reality of his political capital in the UPND.
His apparent lack of awareness regarding his diminished standing within the UPND is shocking to say the least.
What will it will take Nkombo to know that he is no longer wanted in the UPND?
