It has a small rechargeable battery inside that gets charged before the game. the battery lasts up to 6 hours so it covers a full match easy
Inside the ball there’s a tiny sensor that tracks every touch, kick, speed and spin 500 times per second
The ball works with 12 cameras in the stadium. together they track the ball and all players 50 times per second
♯ this data goes straight to VAR and helps referees make offside and goal-line decisions faster and more accurate
♯ it’s an upgrade from the 2022 ball. the 2022 ball had a sensor too but the battery wasn’t rechargeable. the 2026 version lasts longer and has better data fusion
It won’t stop all arguments though. referees still make the final call. the tech just gives them better info
fifa and adidas confirmed it will be used for all 104 matches in usa, mexico and canada
