Four (4) UPND Parliamentary Candidates and more than one hundred (100) councillars go unopposed ahead of the 13 August 2026 General election

As the country braces for the much anticipated general election set for 13 August 2026, the ruling United Party for National Development is undoubtedly set to outperform opposition political parties.

In an Unprecedented fit, the ruling party so far has won four (4) parliamentary as well as over hundred (100) local government seats across the country on account of its candidates going unopposed. The parliamentary candidates include Mr. Trevor Mwiinde, Choma South, Clement Andeleke, Kazungula, Edgar Siakachoma, Kalomo South and Nchimunya Siakole, Sinazongwe.

The development in itself serves as a reminder that the opposition will not have it easy in the upcoming Polls. This is on account that it’s clear that the ruling party is more prepared on the ground to mobilise support of the electorate.

We can only wish opposition parties participating good luck as in a democracy they have a role of providing checks and balances.
