Don’t disappoint Hichilema due to adoption, Liswaniso cautions youths
UPND National Youth Chairperson, Gilbert Liswaniso has warned youth leaders participating in protests or acts of indiscipline during the candidate adoption process that they will be dismissed.
Addressing district and provincial youth leaders today, Liswaniso emphasised that the youths must remain the eyes of President Hakainde Hichilema and maintain absolute loyalty to him as the country heads to the polls on August 13
Liswaniso’s remarks come amid reports of aspiring candidates attempting to influence youth structures in the party to spearhead unrest.
He said the UPND does not carry placards or street protests to resolve internal grievances.
“We want to make it very clear that we are putting our house in order,” Liswaniso stated.
“If any leader at the constituency or district level is found in these activities of protest, we will remove you from that position. In UPND, we sit at the table and discuss matters, we do not protest.”
He reminded the youth that individual popularity is secondary to the party’s brand, warning them that no individual, seeking adoption should distract their goals of giving President Hichilema more votes come August 13, 2026.
The ruling party’s national youth leader reminded the young people to cast their eyes on the big prize, delivering five million votes to President Hichilema.
“The way we did it in 2021, we must do it again in 2026. We need to influence young people across the country to vote for the UPND because the President means well for this country,” he said.
Liswaniso further appealed for a spirit of reconciliation following intense intra-party elections, asking members to set aside personal feuds for the sake of the party’s progress.
