NKOMBO OPTS OUT OF UPND MAZABUKA RACE
Veteran politician Gary Nkombo has not applied for adoption to recontest the Mazabuka Central parliamentary seat, bringing uncertainty over his political future after nearly two decades in office.
Nkombo, a long-serving member of the United Party for National Development (UPND), joined the party in 2002 from the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) and was first elected as Member of Parliament in 2006.
Over the years, he rose to become one of the party’s most prominent figures and played a notable role in the campaign that ushered in Hakainde Hichilema’s victory in the 2021 general elections.
