Go Back to the Land Zambia has joined the nation in mourning and celebrating the life of  the Sixth President of the Republic of Zambia Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

In a statement to Smart Eagles,  organisation executive director Cyprian Phiri said late former President Lungu’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to rural sustainable development remain etched in the hearts and history of Zambia

Mr. Phiri said as an advocate for equitable development, the late President strongly supported the Go Back to the Land initiative.

He said late President Lungu believed that the success of this program depended on the provision of essential infrastructure and services such as health facilities, schools, and the grading of feeder roads to boost agricultural productivity and improve the quality of life for rural communities.

Mr. Phiri said late President Lungu’s dedication to the welfare of the less privileged—through policies like the Social Cash Transfer, the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP), and his strong engagement with traditional leadership structures—will forever define his enduring legacy.

“As an organization rooted in the values he championed, Go Back to the Land Zambia urges all political players to set aside their differences during this solemn moment and come together in unity to honor the life and contributions of a statesman who put Zambia first,” he said

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the former First Family, the Government, and the people of Zambia. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Mr. Phiri said.
